Profile
The research group was established in 1997 as a team solving the project VS 97155 - Computer Graphics and Data Visualization in Parallel and Distributed Environment.
The Centre of Computer Graphics and Data Visualization has been formally established in October 2000 as an independent part of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Faculty of Applied Sciences, University of West Bohemia, Plzen (Pilsen).
Research Activities
Research activities of the research group at the Centre of Computer Graphics and Data Visualization are focused especially on design and verification of algorithms for computer graphics and data visualization, also in parallel and distributed environment.
The reseach group uses Intel 32bit platform (Pentium IV 2.8GHz, 2GB RAM, 100Mb Ethernet) and Intel 32bit platform
with Extended Memory 64-bit Technology (Pentium IV 3.2GHz, 4GB RAM, 1Gb Ethernet).
The researchers use mainly Windows XP operating systems with Microsoft Visual Studio.NET 2003 and Borland Delphi developement tools.
For visualization purposes, the reaserch group owns a stereo virtual wall.
Details on Research activities can be found at the research page.
Educational Activities
Members of the Centre are responsible for the courses of the Computer Graphics and Data Visualization specialization of the Informatics and Computer Science master study programme as well as for postgraduate studies.
Detailed information can be found at the Computer Science and Engineering Department pages.
Members of the Centre are also active in the Erasmus-Socrates project that supports the students and staff mobility exchanges.
Detailed information on this activity is available at the Socrates page.
Industrial Activities
The research group searches actively for industrial research links in the field of expertise. Please, if you are interested, contact Prof. Ing. Vaclav Skala, CSc. (skala@kiv.zcu.cz, http://herakles.zcu.cz/~skala/).
